Isn’t it funny how when you go to worship the Lord, He does more in you than you could ever give to Him?
Saturday was just one of those days for me. Other missionaries asked us if they could use the church for a worship day and I’m so glad they did. It was such a sweet time for me in God’s presence.
One of the songs that they led had these lyrics: “You have turned my mourning into dancing. You have turned my sorrow into joy.” And when we got to the part that says, “This is how we overcome!” I looked around and was just so full of joy.
Malagasy Pastor’s kids leading us in worship.
Students from the Christian school we volunteer with lifting their hands in praise to the Lord.
Teenagers from an orphanage, worshiping their Heavenly Father.
Our church members standing with us lifting up the name of Jesus.
And others that I do not know, but we are all part of the same family, enjoying God’s presence.
This is how we overcome.
Living in a third world country can be hard. You see the mourning. You see the sorrow.
But one moment in God’s presence… something happens.
That mourning? Get your dancing shoes on, my friend. Things are about to change!
That sorrow? Get ready. You are about to experience joy beyond measure!
And as worship continued to take place, things did happen.
One of the girls from the school raised her hand to accept Christ.
Another teenage student that comes from a Muslim family, with tears streaming down his face, gave his heart to the Lord.
I don’t think you can fully grasp what a sight this is. Mourning turned to dancing. Sorrow turned to joy.
And me? All I could do was cry and worship the one that not only has changed my life, and is continuing to change lives all around me.
I’m so thankful for this opportunity to serve here. I’m so thankful that God, in His sovereignty, chose me to be a part of this big story.
And today, no matter where you are…know that I am praying for you. I’m praying that you overcome. And I’m believing that God is going to give you a reason to dance. And His joy will be made complete in you.
